Basic First Aid for Snake Bite

Keep snake bite victom as calm & still as possible.

Do not wash bite site as any venom on the bite site can be used by medical staff to identify snake species for the appropriate treatment.

Do not try to catch or kill the snake for identification purposes as this may result in further snake bites.

Identification can normally be done through medical staff swabbing the bite site.

Apply a firm broad bandage to the bitten limb. If possible to the whole limb also using a splint to immobilise the limb.

Then seek immediate  medical attention.

It is always a good idea to notify hospital or medical team in advance to advise of your arrival.
